Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig Reunite in New Movie

SNL alums Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig are starring as the title pair in “The Skeleton Twins,” but if you’re looking for laughs you may want to try the new Tina Fey movie instead. Fey’s new flick will open on the same day, and it’s not quite as dark as “Twins.” In the film, Hader and Wiig star as estranged twins whose near-death experiences bring them together again.

Former SNL stars will reunite for new drama movie.

SNL on the Big Screen

In the film, Wiig and Hader star as Maggie and Milo. They’re twins, but they haven’t spoken to each other in 10 years. Bizarrely, each escapes death on the very same day in very different circumstances. The close calls make them re-evaluate, and that leads to a re-connection for the warring siblings.

This will be Bill Hader’s first starring role since he left SNL. Wiig, on the other hand, has plenty of experience with being a leading lady. After cracking audiences up in “Bridesmaids,” Wiig played opposite Ben Stiller in “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.”

We know Kristen Wiig can be funny, but can she be serious? “The Skeleton Twins” is more drama than laughter. After premiering at the Sundance Film Festival, the movie won the Screenwriting Award for U.S. drama. Luke Wilson co-stars as Wiig’s husband.

If you are looking for laughs from a former SNL-er, turn your trip to the movies into a double feature. Tina Fey’s “This is Where I Leave You” will open the same day as the Wiig-Hader drama, September 19. Watch the trailer for “Skeleton Twins” at YouTube.
