A Tale of Two Quarterbacks: Romo and Manning!

Last Night’s game between the Cowboys and the Giants played out exactly the way it should have. Throughout both of these QB’s careers one has been a regular season stud and the other has been a post season stud. Let’s look at the numbers:

Tony Romo’s  2011 season stats: 346-522 for 4,184 yards. 31Td’s and 15 turnovers.
Eli manning’s 2011 Season stats: 359-589 for 4,933 yards. 29Td’s and 22 turnovers.
So Eli threw 77 more times with 6 more completions but the real way quarterbacks are measured is touchdowns vs. interceptions.  Eli threw 2 less TD’s and have 7 more turnovers. Now let’s look at their respected wide outs and running backs. Eli offensive weapons were better last year, Nicks, Cruz, Manningham, Jacobs and Bradshaw. Compared to Austin, Bryant, Robinson, Jones and Murray.

Eli’s team stayed pretty healthy throughout the season and defiantly had the better running game. Romo had to deal with injuries to his wide receivers and running backs all season.  BUT! Your legacy and Hall of fame status does not hang on regular season stats. It’s all about what you do in the post-season.
Even though Eli mostly looks like this.
He has also been seen doing this  Twice!  Romo’s post season stats are not that bad 832 yards in 4 games with a 4 TD’s to 2 int’s  ratio and  2 fumbles lost. However he is 1-3 in those 4 games and the lasting image we all relate to Romo is the fumble during the FG attempt to win the playoff game.

The younger Manning is 8-3 in the playoffs with 2 super bowl rings. He has 17td’s to 8 int’s and 2516 yards. He has 2 super bowl MVP’s and has 2 of the greatest plays in the super bowl period.
Remember These:

Tony Romo needs to get credit for putting up above average regular season stats but that’s where it should stop. Eli is the best Manning by far! He is behind only Brady, Brees and Rodgers right now. He has basically stepped one foot into the Hall of Fame already. Last night we saw the history of these two quarter backs play out.  The Cowboy’s needed that win way more than the Giant’s, because Eli has already proved that he is dangerous no matter how he gets into the playoffs.
