Take-Two Interactive Software have announced that “Grand Theft Auto V” has scored the highest first day retail sales of any title in the history of the company, and the popular “Grand Theft Auto” series. Looks like the video game heads have spoken pretty loud with this one.
Launched yesterday onPlayStation 3
and Xbox 360, the game achieved first day sell-through of more than $800 million U.S. dollars worldwide, and that’s not including upcoming launches in Japan and Brazil. This video game will end up earning upwards of a billion by the end of the month.
Though prices vary from country to country, that title indicates around 12-13 million copies of the game were sold in the first 24 hours.
In comparison, the previous record holder was “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2” which sold $500 million in its first 24 hours.
