Rihanna’s wild partying may be finally catching up to her. Rumors have spread around the music industry that her boss Jay-Z has informed her that she needs to check herself into a rehab program or else he will drop her from the label. At the pinnacle of her career the 24 year old songstress has a bad girl partying lifestyle that could land her in the “dead at 27” club with so many other talented artist.
A quote from Entertainment Week stated “Rihanna has been out of control for months.” Like that time she was supposed to catch a flight, but she ended up missing it, which was “the final straw for management.” Rihanna played it cool and said Jay gave her the “day off to rest and recover” Of course Jay-Z not happy with that and simply informed her she needed to go to rehab or it was time to part ways with her and release from his label.
A source close to the singer stated “that they think she is mentally and physically exhausted and needs some time off from her career as well as the other stresses in her life”
It has been reported that Rihanna’s Grandmother, who she is close with is battling cancer and I’m sure that has taken it’s toll on her mentally as it would any other human being.
The fact that Rihanna is truly the cash cow for Jay-Z and has been for the last 4 or 5 years– it seems very unlikely that he would actually drop her from the label. She has sold more records than Jay himself and has had her music downloaded more than any other artist. That would be the equivalent of Lebron James being cut from the Miami Heat– which just simply ain’t happening. Too many other record labels would be more than willing to sign the “Rude Boy” singer immediately. Troubled or not.
And on another while Jay and Kanye may have a great relationship it is rumored that Kanye West has fulfilled his album requirements to Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records and will now be releasing future work under his own label Good Music and building his brand and working with his own artist more. After all it is flat out just a good business move.
So now with all that information being provided do you really think Jay-Z would let go of Rihanna. I think he genuinely cares about her well being and doesn’t want to see her life and career go down in flames like so many other Pop Stars who didn’t know when to slow it down.
TMZ also reported that Rihanna was spotted at Club Avenue on June 11th with Chris Brown and both left the club separately within minutes of each other. Now we all know star behavior when “avoiding together pictures” so it is very possible they were going to their next destination to meet up. And it is no secret that Jay-Z doesn’t approver her interacting or reconciling with Chris after he savagely beat her. I’m sure her increased time around him isn’t helping the situation or earning her any favor with Jay.
Only time will tell how this drama will play out but we wish Rihanna the best and hope she is able to get it together soon.
