The World According to J-Hov: Taking Risks

Life is about taking risks, “keeping it real” is all about…well keeping it real. The problem is some of us try to keep it so real that we don’t take any risks. Risks are not about being brave or making a name for yourself…. and “keeping it real” is not about doing everything the same way as everyone else.

There is a better way to manage these two things and use both to succeed and get respect.

Risks have to be calculated..but they are still risks. No matter how much you calculate a risk, there’s always a chance that it will not work. With almost any risk there comes a point where you have to take a leap into the “abyss of uncertainty”. Calculating the risk just prepares you for that leap, not the actual risk itself. Your mentality is what prepares you for the risk itself. There has to be a level of consistency, thoughtfulness, balance and patience. Therefore the reason you take the risk should be very important to you but you must also remember that sacrifice is the key. Sacrifice your heart for love, sacrifice your relationships with the wrong people to make room for more supportive or respectable  people, sacrifice your previous life for your future dreams.

Keeping it real is a way of life, not a reason to drag along through life. Keeping it real doesn’t mean you have to talk a certain way, act a certain way, or do certain things. Keeping it real is all about trustworthiness. If you can be trusted, you have done your job. Keeping it real is all about being reliable (not for people that hold you back), being unafraid to take a stand for what you believe, and respecting others. It has nothing to do with hanging around the neighborhood you grew up in, joining a gang or being a FOLLOWER. In life you have to respect people, but it does not mean you have to be a follower.

To sum it up: Risks are scary but life is short..take a meaniningful one and follow your dreams. Keeping it real means you are doing what you can to be the most productive to yourself, following your dreams and the trustworthy to people in your life. Don’t be a follower, use your life to do what you see as your calling.
