The Next James Bond Film is Looking For its Oddjob

Daniel Craig is not a smirking, wisecracking James Bond. After three films with the guy, I think we’re safe in confirming this as an indisputable truth of the universe.

But that doesn’t mean that the series won’t try and build some Connery charm around him anyway.

That seems to be what MGM is doing at this very moment. Because according to MI6 (an all Bond, all the time fan site), the studio is looking to cast a new villain with a very Classic Bond approach.

Not Oddjob, though (despite what the picture above may imply). The folks at MI6 have MGM looking for a man who is “extremely physically fit” and well above a height of 6′ 2,” to play a major villain in the film.

Anyone looking to audition should also be “very unusual.” Whatever that means.

It seems pretty clear that MGM wants its very own Jaws or Oddjob for the next Bond film. Heck, this new villain’s got a super-cool code name already: Hinx.

Ok, maybe Hinx is less “super-cool” and more “weird and potentially embarrassing,” but it’s a start. And given that it’s already been hinted at that MGM wants a lighter, funnier Bond this time, risks on the potentially embarrassing are what Bond 24 truly needs.

Here’s to Hinx. May he be as weirdly imposing as Jaws or Oddjob, in his own, sweet way. Also, may he get a name that’s a lot less stupid than “Hinx.”
