Best Wide-Out Options for the 49ers!

So in the wake of the 49ers Super Bowl Loss to the Ravens, there is a glaring hole in the roster now. With Randy Moss and Ted Ginn Jr probably gone from next year’s team.  Niner Nation is in desperate need of a number 2 receiver. Michael Crabtree, A.J Jenkins, Mario Manningham and Kyle Williams are the only receivers under contract currently.

With Manningham and Williams coming off of season ending knee injuries the 49ers have to make a splash in free agency or via trade. I do not believe they will draft another receiver after what took place with Jenkins, who didn’t play a meaningful snap all season. So lets look at the top options.

Mike Wallace- last season stats 15 games 64 catches 836 yards and 8 TD’s.

When it comes to Mike Wallace it’s all about speed! This man can flat out fly and is considered one of the fastest guys in the league period! Why the steelers decided to pay Antonio Brown and not hit is still debatable, but when it comes Blowing the top off a defense there’s not too many better. The 49ers watched and old Randy Moss put fear in defenders all season. Corners played 8-10 yards off of him all year and he beat them with short hitch routes most of the season. Even at Moss old age he still demanded respect off of the line and you can best believe that safety knew which side he had to lean too. Now imagine what Wallace can do in the Niners offense. With Colin going into his first full season and Crabtree being the Number 1 receiver, wallace can have a field day opposite Crabtree. Last year the 49ers tried their best to pry him away from the Steelers, now it’s all up to Wallace!

Percy Harvin- Last season stats 9 games 62 catches for 677 and 3 TD’s / 96 rushing and 1TD

Now this may be a little tricky, Seeing that Percy is still under contract the only way the 49ers can get him is Via trade. Usually that may be a bad thing but with the 49ers having 14 picks this year this can actually happen. Especially with 3 of those picks  in the 3rd round. The only other hold up would be his future contract. Currently he is still on his rookie contract and he would be looking to re-up with his future team. Since he is one of the most explosive players in the league, who can help in the return game and line up all over the field. He will be demanding a HUGE contract. The holdup may be his contract. With Kap contract coming up in a year or so and Crabtree becoming one of the best receivers in the game. They both will be looking for Big payday’s as well. But what IF? You add an explosive playmaker who can take one to the house at anytime. You put Crabtree, Davis, harvin and Manningham on the field at the same time and defense has some serious issues to worry about. To me the 49ers must make this deal!

Greg Jennings- 8 games 36 catches for 366 yards and 4 TD’s

This is my least favorite rumor. I really like Greg jennings, i played against him in college, while I was at the University at Buffalo. Lets just say he showed me that day why he was a NFL draft pick. After 2 receiving touchdowns and throwing for another in a lopsided loss for us let me know he was for real. But what would he bring to the 49ers? He has lost a step or two since coming into the league and when is the last time he has been healthy? We already have a position receiver who’s not afraid to go across the middle (Crabtree) and catches almost everything around him. We already had a veteran receiver come in and show our younger receivers how to practice and get better everyday (Moss). So again what can he bring! With an explosive qb like Kap, you need to surround him with explosive players as well. Greg jennings and explosive are not in the same book anymore more. Like I said before being a MAC Player from Western Michigan, i personally really like him but I don’t see a fit here!

Overall Niners Nation who do you think they should go after?
