Former NFL star running back Jamal Anderson has lost his suburban Atlanta, Georgia home. The once prominent football player took a loss on a home that he originally paid $1.225 million for. He first bought the home in 1999 and it was even once featured on an episode of MTV’s Cribs.
Jamal Anderson joins a long list of star athletes who live it up in their early playing years and go broke soon after. He played for the Atlanta Falcons from 1994 to 2001 — bought the huge estate, 10-bedroom, 9-bath home back in 1999 for $1.225 million.
According to official bank records Anderson defaulted on his mortgage, so the bank foreclosed the home and recently sold it at auction for an even $1,000,000.
It was a STEAL for the buyer as the pad is over 6,000 square feet, sits on 2 acres and is has a separate guest house, arcade room, media room, pool and spa.
In other Jamal Anderson news he recently paid off a Federal Tax Lien for $1.1 million. I guess he had to make a choice– either save the house or risk joining Wesley Snipes in prison over unpaid taxes. He choose his freedom over the house and I don’t blame him for that.
