I’m going to get this out up front. I’m not a fan of reality tv. I think the shows make people look idiotic. I can’t stand all the yelling and drinking and plain out disrespect; all in the name of getting famous. That being said, I was interested in finding out why former NFL quarterback Kordell Stewart was divorcing his wife of under 2 years, Porscha Stewart. I watched the season finale and at the end when they showed a picture of Porscha it had the caption about the pending divorce. I have been divorced for 6 months, 22 days,16 hours, and 23 minutes(not that anyone is counting) and I know how painful it is to go through the process. Thankfully we didn’t have children or assets to squabble over. Kordell doesn’t want to pay alimony because Porscha has income. Porscha has counter filed seeking significant alimony payments from Kordell.
As I said in the beginning, I don’t watch the show. I have only seen one whole episode where I paid attention to what was going on. I have heard and read that Kordell was controlling, Porscha was a “blond”, Kordell was gay, Porscha let NeNe and Phaedra ruin her marriage, etc, etc, etc. This is what I think I know. Kordell is about 10 years older than Porscha and he made a pretty penny playing in the NFL. He also does commentary for different sports shows. Porscha’s grandfather rolled with MLK Jr. There’s a foundation in the A in his name that she runs. On the Bravo website for the show, her bio states her job is “housewife”.
From where I sit, why is she asking this man for alimony? It’s up in the air about whether a pre-nup exists or not. She has her money from the show and from her family. He has his money from the NFL and his sports gigs. They can go their separate ways and call it a day. She wants that money and I can’t help to think of Drake’s line in “Stay Schemin’”…Kobe ‘bout to lose 150 m’s, Kobe my nigga I hate it had to be him, Bitch you wasn’t with me shootin’ in the gym…(Rick Ross concurs with the above statement). What did she do to deserve any of his money? She wasn’t getting hit by those linebackers and defensive linemen. She wasn’t lifting those weights or sitting in the film room. She didn’t get those first downs in the Super Bowl. At best she should get alimony from any money he earned while they were married. Not a dime from before.
I guess this is my issue with the whole thing. I keep hearing about Kordell being old fashioned. He wants his wife home to take care of the house and the kids while he goes out to earn money. I’m just going to assume he made that very clear during the courting process. And I’m going to also assume this was a great idea to Porscha seeing that, up until that point she had never really had a job. As far as I can tell, she never went to college. So her being Mrs. Porscha Stewart was going to be huge for her. She would be able to concentrate on her grandfather’s foundation and any other philanthropy she wanted to be a part of. All she had to do was take care of the home and have babies…and then she show comes along. I’m not going to say that she allowed other cast mates in her ear, others have said that on various blogs. I’m not even going to say Kordell married Porscha to cover up the fact that he’s gay and he’s not ready to come out of the closet yet. What I am going to say is if that man said he wanted her home to take care of the house and the kids, then she broke the verbal agreement they had and he was within his rights to file for divorce.
Let’s be clear, we are always trying to change someones mind about things. Especially women. I’ve got a secret for you…IT DOESN’T WORK! That man said he didn’t want her working, that’s exactly what he meant. If a man says you’re just fucking, that’s it. Don’t expect anything more than that. It’s hard enough dealing with people without you getting the idea that you are going to make drastic changes to the other persons personality. It’s not going to happen. What is going to happen is you’re going to piss someone off with the bullshit. Ladies, in the words of world renowned DJ Khaled….LISTENNN!!!!! Hear what is being said to you, because it can save you some heartache and pain later on down the line.
By the way…Mrs. Stewart appeared in a video by Trillville back on 2004. Appears she wasn’t too concerned about the legacy of her grandfather at that time. I’m just saying…
