New Spike Lee Joint…Red Hook Summer (Trailer)

Spike Lee returns to the big screen with his latest film titled “Red Hook Summer.” From the looks of this trailer it looks as though Spike has returned to his Brooklyn upbringing and gone back to a film that has the type of feel that Do The Right Thing and Mo’ Better Blues & Jungle Fever.

The feature film focus on a middle-class boy from Atlanta who finds his worldview changed as he spends the summer with his deeply religious grandfather in the housing projects of Red Hook, Brooklyn. Spike Lees returns with a powerful message as he usually does in his films.

The film introduces a few new comers to the acting world and boast a strong message about the role religion plays growing up in the projects.

In case some of you don’t remember this is the film that caused Spike to go off on a rant about Hollywood studios and them not wanting to give him money for this project. He went on to say what could any Hollywood studio exec tell him about a film about a young man growing up in Red Hook Brooklyn??!!! Gotta admit Spike has a point!

This Summer…Spike Lee takes you back to Brooklyn!!!! Set for release August 2012
