Lovie Smith, John Gruden, Mike Holmgren, Chip Kelly, Ken Whisenhunt and Bill Cowher all have one thing in common, they are not the new Bills Head coach. Doug Marrone is! Who? Yes the same guy who took Syracuse University to a 25-25 record in 4 years and 2 pinstripe bowl wins.
Mr. Marrone does have NFL experience playing and coaching in the league for almost 10 years. He was the offensive coordinator for New Orleans during their super bowl run. So he understands how an NFL team is run and he served under Sean Payton which shows he is a good coach.
But Haven’t we seen the Bills do this before? Since Marv Levy left in 1997 the Buffalo Bills are 103-137 on the last 16 years. Wade phillips followed Marv and lead the Bills to 2 playoffs appearances. They Fired him after the last appearance because the way he handled the Rob Johnson, Doug Fluite Qb situation. Since Wade the Bills have not seen the play-offs and constantly looks the worst in their division.
From Greg Williams to Mike Mularkey to Dick Jauron to Perry Fewell and Finally Chan Gailey. The Buffalo Bills fail to land that big name guy. Like I said Lovie Smith, John Gruden and Bill Cowher all could have came in and changed the culture of the team. they would have demanded respect from day 1! Doug from syracuse may have a hard time commanding respect at first but winning changes everything. Please let this work out for the sake of Western New York, they need to get someone in there who can win. If he comes in and by 2 years we don’t see any improvement he will be gone. The good thing is they are so bad now that if it doesn’t work with Doug they will be in the same place they were in before him.
Buffalo May have killed Western New York football overall Taking the best Coach Syracuse has seen since Paul Pasqualoni and asking him to turn around the Bills. He already performed one miracle maybe he can keep it going. Who am I kidding the Bills just bought themselves another losing season. Of course the Bills fans will try to justify this pick (I don’t Know How) but after they come to their senses they will(which usually takes a year or two). They will be kicking him out the door to. Spend the big bucks to get the big name, sometimes it’s just the only way.
