Allen Iverson’s Ex-Wife Awarded Custody of Their 5 Kids In Divorce; Judge Scolds him about Alcohol Problem

Allen Iverson has gone broke and now lost his custody of his children. The former NBA-MVP has seen better days. In a recent court hearing his ex-wife was award custody of the couples 5 children and the judge let him have it about being a bad parent with a drinking problem that is causing his life to spiral out of control.

Iverson’s Ex- wife Tawanna was granted legal and physical custody of their five children. A.I. will have visitation rights, but only if follows  strict rules set forth by the judge in the case.

A.I. can’t consume alcohol for the next 18 months, has to see a psychiatrist, attend AA meetings for a year and until all of his kids turn 18-years old he cannot drink alcohol withing 24 hours of his visits with them.

To a certain extent I feel bad for Allen Iverson but at the same time this man blew well over 140 million dollars over the course of only 10-12 years. I couldn’t even fathom spending that much money over the course of a lifetime. I can only assume his alcohol problem is a result of his misfortune with his financial problems. It’s difficult to feel bad for anyone who has “the good life” and couldn’t hold on to it.

In the final divorce decree the judge reprimands A.I. for being a bad parent who has not dealt with his alcohol problem saying:

“[Iverson] does not know how to manage the children; has little interest in learning to manage the children and has actually, at times, been a hindrance to their spiritual and emotional growth and development.

For example, he has refused to attend to an obvious and serious alcohol problem, which has caused him to do inappropriate things in the presence of the children while impaired.

He has left the children alone without supervision. He has left his young daughters in a hotel room with men who are unknown to the mother.”
