Star Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco sat down to interview with Sway of Mtv’s Rapfix and they took a glimpse of his first interview they did where they took a stroll through Lupe’s Westside Chicago neighborhood. A neighborhood that is notorious for violence and killings. Upon watching the video of his former self Lupe broke down in tears at some of the “Ghost” in the video.
Lupe Fiasco sat down with Sway from MTV’s Rapfix to speak candidly about where he is at in his music career at this point and upon seeing the video of the two of them together in his old neighborhood from their first interview it made him cry real tears of sorrow and pain. He wept for the kids in the neighborhood that hadn’t changed over the years. He wept for kids in the hood because he knew some of them wouldn’t make it out. He wept for the people who appear in this video that are now deceased and/or incarcerated.
I for one am a HUGE fan of Lupe Fiasco and I respect him to the fullest for being a real man and being who he is and not trying to conform to an image. He came out of one of the roughest, toughest, and most violent criminal gang infested areas in the world and he still remained true to himself. That is something you don’t see very often in the music industry especially as it pertains to hip hop.
