OH, BY THE WAY….

I was watching the RNC (Republican National Convention) last night and I was really hoping to hear or see something that could open my eyes to what Mitt Romney is about, besides what we already know. instead of how bad of a job the current administration is doing. I was hoping to hear about the steps they would take to bring a spirit of compromise and bipartisanship to the White House. Unfortunately, my hopes were dashed! What I saw last night were people alienating party members, and patting themselves on the back for what they are doing in their home state, and Oh, By The Way, let’s make Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan the next President and Vice President of the United States of America.

I am not a republican, never have been and probably never will be, but there are some republican views I do understand and can get behind. I am a fan of Ron Paul congressman of Texas because in my opinion he is open and honest about his views, and although he is off his rocker sometimes, I understand and like what he says.  For instance, here is a quote from a foreign policy interview he gave, “Instead of securing our borders, we’ve been planning, initiating and waging wars of aggression. Our military is spread thin all across the planet, yet we remain involved in dangerous power plays that unnecessarily put the lives of our soldiers at risk. And we brazenly squandered the wealth of our nation as if there were no tomorrow.” (ronpaul.com). If that’s not the truth, I don’t know what is. However, he was not given his just do at the RNC because they refused to even announce his 190 delegate votes from the republican primary, and made new rules that stripped some of his supporters of their delegate seats. If a long time member of the GOP can be treated like this by his own party, I have no confidence that they will treat me or any other person not of their ilk fairly. After that debacle came speeches from GOP governors from all over the country.

John Kasich of Ohio, talked about how he was able to take his state from 48th in job creation to 4th, and how he balanced his budget with no tax increases, and how his state’s credit rating improved, and because Mitt believes what he believes we should vote for him. Mary Fallen the Oklahoma Governor , talked about how hard the people in her state works, describing men and woman running wildly to stake their claim to land that would be all theirs, and how they didn’t need government for that, and technically she is right because who needs government to steal.  Then you had Nikki Haley, governor of South Carolina bragging about how she was able to win a lawsuit against Obama when the Machinists Union sued Boeing Inc, for unfair labor practices after it moved part of the production of its 787 Dreamliner airplane from Washington to South Carolina, a state where laws are less friendly to unions. About 1,000 jobs were created in South Carolina at the new Boeing plant, and boy was Governor Haley proud. Lastly at around 10 pm came what I was waiting for since 8 pm. the speeches of Ann Romney (Mitt’s Wife) and the Governor of New Jersey Chris Christie.

I Enjoyed Ann Romney’s speech, from the very beginning saying she wanted to talk about not policy, not politics but love. Even if I did think that at times she tried to portray herself as a woman who could relate to everyday women, working all day, coming home to take care of the kids, and do the household chores; we all know she has not done anything like that in a long time, if ever. Still, I enjoyed the story of how she and Mitt got married young, got a basement apartment and ate tuna fish and pasta, working on a desk made of a door over two sawhorses. I can relate to that. However, she still was not able to tell us much more about Mitt beyond that, only saying, that Mitt does not like to talk about how he helps others because, “He sees it as a privilege not a political talking point.” Imagine that, a politician that does not like to talk about how he helps others seems a bit fishy to me. She trusts Mitt and so should we. Sorry Mrs. Romney, as good as I thought you were you weren’t that good.

Lastly, the guy I was waiting for, the guy I was actually excited to see, the guy that if running, I might actually vote for, governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie. The big guy, with a loud mouth, that is not afraid to get in your face and tell you how it is, good or bad. Where Ann Romney wanted to talk about love, Chris Christie wanted respect! He said he would rather have respect over love, something his mom taught him. I was enjoying the speech, but then, like all the other speakers of the night, he couldn’t resist listing his accomplishments. I won’t begin to name them because he went on and on and on. After bragging about working with democrats in New Jersey, he went on to describe how the republications were different from democrats, like a coach making a halftime speech in the locker room, right before he tells his team to go out there and bite somebody’s head off. I was shocked and disappointed to say the least. I thought if nobody else would stand up and tell politicians from both parties to stop the fighting and back biting, he would, but it never happened. Instead, he talked about how is party needed to be leaders, and leaders don’t follow polls they change them. When he finally got around to talking about Mitt Romney he had the audacity to say that Mitt is the one that would tell America the cold hard truth, “now stand on your feet stand together and vote for Mitt Romney”. Blatant hypocrisy coming from a man that I thought was somewhat truthful, that’s when I knew it was game over.

Television off, it’s a wrap, I know now without a shadow of a doubt, that these set of republicans don’t care about anybody but themselves and their bank accounts, if you don’t believe me vote for the wrong guy and see where you are come 2016!

A night full of self promotion and no real answers from anyone. Who would have thunk it?

For the religious right a question: whats’s the likelihood that hurricane would settle over the RNC and that it’s name is Issac? Think about that. I don’t think it was a coincident.
