The long awaited return of New York Hip Hop

The long awaited return of New York Hip Hop

Peace and what’s today‘s mathematics This is Old Phantom and welcome back to the Hip-Hop Blog section of Mindbenderent.com. As I have previously stated I am an avid fan of Hip-Hop and especially the artists from what I like to call the (NY platinum era) this is includes artists from camps like: Ruff Ryders / D-Block, CNN, Brave Hearts, Mob Deep, Roc-A-Fella, Wu-Tang, Def Squad, Bad Boy, Flip mode squad and Terror Squad. When I found out that 2 of my favorite camps were collaborating to make an Epic LP that will drop this October I had to hit the world about it.
Is this the long awaited return of that GRITTY GRIMEY REAL New York HIP-HOP that we as fans have been waiting for?!  We are all familiar with the work that the 2 respective camps have put in but to combine these 2 power houses Wu-tang and D-Block this just may be the spark that explodes the powder keg of NY Real lyricist back to relevancy . In the state of hip-hop now there is no real lyrical content. Some of these rappers  drop a hotline or 2, but who is really making you stop the song and replay that spot and give you those goose bumps like “ woo did you hear what he just said?!”. It seems a gimmick and a good beat makes you an artist now a days (SMMFH). NY as a whole has lost its Identity, where NY used to set trends now we follow them, where is that heart that the Empire State used to have?  Now Nas’ Life is Good album is doing its numbers and has great momentum while still embodying the reminisce of that Era I personally miss, and French Montana has been doing what he can to keep it NY, but has fallen in to that Down south Trap- Hop pigeon hole. While he has made himself very successful, it’s just not the sound you expect when you think of the South Bronx. The Wu-Block album will ensure to the rest of the world that the HEART of NY has not stop beating and will only get stronger with projects like this. The lyricism and word play that can be expected on this “Wu-Block “ LP will give a wake up five finger slap to the face of this garbage that has been polluting the air waves for far too long.  The potency of the this collaboration may re-open the door for those SPITTERS who have been forced to make their selves heard on the battle circuits such as URL, Grind time, and UWL. The roster for this project is full of artists that have all dropped certified street classics since ’94. From Methods Man’s Tical  to Raekwon’s Only Built for Cuban Linx (the purple tape) to Jada’s Last Kiss and Styles P Master of Ceremonies  the catalogs of these artists is astounding. Now if you’re into that skinny jeans tight shirt wearing, men kissing men on the mouth kind of artist and this whole new homo looks this project is probably not for you. However if you got to pair of those good old’ construction timbs and acg’s and you remember when Jada and Raekwon murdered the John Blaze Joint on Fat Joes Don Cartagena LP then I strongly urge you to cop this project, and not the bootleg or download go to best buy or a record shop near you and purchase this instant classic!
Well that is my brief take on this topic please feel free to comment on how you feel about this upcoming project or anything else mentioned with in this article all feedback is welcome until next time I leave you with this
“When you want to succeed as much as you want to breathe that’s when you will be successful”
Peace!
