Tom Clancy’s “Splinter Cell” becomes a Film

First Warner Brothers took a crack at it…. and now Paramount Pictures is currently in talks with Ubisoft to bring the best selling video game to the big screen. The Tom Clancy best selling title “Splinter Cell” is in negotiations to be a film series that is likely to have several sequels should the first be a hit, which is a given as long on the project is handled properly.

The six games in the series have  followed a covert operative on various missions to save the world. The video game franchise has sold a whooping 22 million games since it’s inception in 2002. Ubisoft has one strong stipulation for the development for his cash cow– they want to be directly involved and retain control over how the game is interpreted for the big screen.

Paramount is the frontrunner to land the project but a solid deal has not been reach yet. Paramount is the studio behind the film adaptations of other Clancy titles and has both a reboot of the Jack Ryan franchise and  the “Without Remorse” adaptation currently in studio development.
